Our Founding Story

In 1988, former members of the now-inactive Galena Park Alumni Chapter came together with a shared vision to establish a new, service-oriented entity. Inspired by this purpose, 21 members of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. united to form a chapter in Missouri City, Texas.

On August 6, 1988, the Missouri City Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. was officially chartered as a member of the Southwestern Province (see Charter Members below).

As the chapter’s service efforts expanded throughout northeast Fort Bend County—particularly in Missouri City and Sugar Land—the Grand Board of Directors approved a name change in January 2007. The chapter became the Missouri City–Sugar Land Alumni Chapter, reflecting its commitment to the communities it proudly serves.
