Brother Dr. Barry Ingram (MCSLA Spr. ’26) Installed as Senior Pastor

On May 17th Brother Dr. Barry O. Ingram was installed as the new pastor of the historic Mount Horem baptist church.

Rev. Dr. Barry O. Ingram currently serves as Senior Pastor of the historic Mount Horem Baptist Church in Houston, Texas, a position to which he was called in March 2026. Mount Horem, founded in 1926, is approaching its centennial anniversary and entering its second century of ministry under Dr. Ingram’s leadership. A dedicated servant leader with a profound commitment to spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Dr. Ingram brings extensive experience in pastoral ministry, military chaplaincy, and organizational leadership to his calling. His ministry philosophy is rooted in a holistic approach to shepherding—one that addresses the day-to-day realities people face while fostering continuous spiritual growth and a deeper relationship with God. Dr. Ingram’s vision is clear: to establish the church as a spiritual fortress where discipleship has a liberating impact on individuals, families, and the community by the transforming power of Jesus Christ.

Dr. Ingram’s pastoral journey spans nearly three decades of faithful service across multiple congregations, including serving as founding pastor of Lighthouse Christian Church in Virginia and associate pastor roles at Shiloh Baptist Church, New Faith Church, God’s Way Family Church, and Oasis of Hope Christian Church. His commitment to serving those who serve is evident in his distinguished chaplaincy career, where he made history as the first African American chaplain in the Dover Air Force Base Reserve unit and served as one of the founding members of the Central Intelligence Agency Chaplaincy program. Dr. Ingram retired from military service after 28 years of combined active and reserve service with the final rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

He holds a Ph.D. in Information from the University of the Cumberlands, a Master of Divinity from Virginia Union’s Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology, an MBA from Bellevue University, and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Science from the University of Maryland Global Campus. Dr. Ingram is married to Dr. Tanya C. Ingram, and they have three children.
